Wine and Cheese Tasting in Montmartre

Description

We'll begin our walking tour of Montmartre at the foot of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, the iconic symbol of Paris's bohemian quarter. After admiring this neo-Byzantine church, perched atop Montmartre hill, we'll stroll to Place du Tertre, the famous painters' square! In this iconic plaza, we'll discover the deep connection between art and the neighborhood, which was once home to great masters of the brush, such as Pablo Picasso.

The next stop will be in front of Clos Montmartre, the last vineyard in the neighborhood. We'll discuss the historical, social, and cultural importance of wine in this area of Paris and learn the meaning of various terms related to French viticulture, such as terroir.

Nearby is Parc Marcel, a picturesque park where we'll continue exploring the world of wine. What are the main techniques used to make French wines? Which stages are the most important?

After an hour strolling through Montmartre, we'll make our final stop at Les Naturistes restaurant. Here, we'll spend an hour enjoying a three-wine tasting: a red, a white, and a third wine that we'll taste blind. Among the varieties we'll sample are those from renowned wine regions such as the Loire, Languedoc-Roussillon, Beaujolais, Provence, Bugey, and Alsace. Children under 18 can have juice or soft drinks.

We'll pair the wines with a selection of three French cheeses. Among the varieties we'll be able to sample are Comté, Brillat-Savarin, Crottin de Chèvre, and Camembert. It will be the perfect pairing!

Finally, we will conclude this two-hour activity at the restaurant.
