WOMEN IN FRENCH HISTORY
Description
Have you ever felt like you were missing part of the story on a tour of Paris? Welcome to the other side!
The Paris Women's Tour through the Latin Quarter has a dual purpose. Obviously, to visit the most emblematic places in this area, such as the Pantheon, the Sorbonne University, Shakespeare and Company, and the Luxembourg Gardens; but above all, to tell you the story you haven't heard yet.
We will talk about Joan of Arc, the teenager who changed the course of the Hundred Years' War and the destiny of France. We will also talk about the seven women who were pioneers in occupying that space called the Pantheon, including great figures such as Marie Curie and Simone Veil.
We will talk about the very important role of Marie Antoinette, or that of Olympia de Gouges, who wrote the Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen and started the first wave of feminism.
To know where we are going, it is important to know and understand where we come from. Darcia Mariani, an Italian writer, stated that “when women die, they do so forever, condemned to a double end, that of the flesh and that of oblivion.” We cannot do anything about the flesh, but as for oblivion... we still have a long way to go.
