Its purpose was clear: to dazzle anyone who crossed its threshold, and it continues to do so eight centuries later.
At first glance, the Sainte-Chapelle is impressive...
But when you climb up to the upper chapel, it's hard not to be speechless: 15 giant stained-glass windows, covering more than 600 m², narrate the Bible as if it were an immense medieval comic book illuminated by the sun. When the light passes through the reds, blues, and golds of the glass, the entire space is transformed.
